The MASKED SINGER
SEASON 5
After completing the Treehouse project I was lucky enough to join the Masked Singer team again for the second half of the costume production for season 5.
I’ve detailed two of my biggest contributions to the costumes below; leading on Maypole’s mask and Huntsman Spider.
MAYpole
Maypole was very satisfying to work on; the base is plastazote with a wood grain cut into the surface. In the video you can see the grain being revealed with a heat gun as it shrinks away from the cut lines.
The design allowed for a large area of ventilation on top of the head which is great to keep the wearer cool. And the vision was able to be put into the features keeping the look seamless.

HUNTSMAN SPIDER
Huntsman Spider was made for the I’m a Celebrity Special.
The head is made from varaform making it lightweight with great vision. The most complicated part was the legs which are made from lightweight PVC covered in foam and are removable so they don’t get damaged in transport.
The skirt was a multi-tiered affair with every panel being individually sewn with tulle backing, decorative sequin fabric, boning and trim.
